ALBANY, N.Y. -- Houghton softball went 1-1 on Saturday vs. Sage, losing game one, 12-2 in six innings, before bouncing back with a 4-3 win in the nightcap.
In the opener, the Highlanders fell behind 1-0 after the first inning and went up 2-1 thanks to a
Carlee Miller 2 RBI double, but that's as much offense as they Highlanders would see the rest of the way. The Gators scored seven times over the next three innings, and they closed it out with a walk-off grand slam in the sixth inning.

Olivia Carr picked up the loss in the circle, allowing eight runs on 11 hits over 4.2 innings.
Alisabeth Crandall gave up four runs on four hits in .2 innings.
The second game saw the Highlanders go up 1-0 in the top of third. But the Gators scored single runs in the third, fourth and sixth to take a 3-1 lead. However, the Highlanders responded two innings later to pull back ahead. Three hits, an error and a hit by pitch would aid the visitors in the inning. Rachael Scharf singled home

Kareena Ulfig followed with an RBI single to put Houghton up 4-3. Ulfig then retired the side in the bottom of the seventh to secure her fourth win of the season.
Ulfig went the full seven innings, allowing three runs on eight hits, while striking out two and walking none.
At the plate, Scharf had two hits and two RBI to lead the Highlanders.Â
Houghton is back in action on Tuesday, April 23 when they travel to Utica for a two-game series. This doubleheader is a makeup from Friday's contests that were postponed due to heavy rains.
