FILLMORE, N.Y. -- The Keuka Wolves grabbed two wins over Houghton in softball action Saturday afternoon at Fillmore Central School.
The games, moved to Fillmore due to weather conditions, went in favor of Keuka, 6-3 and 6-1.
In the opener, the teams each scored a run in the first inning before the Highlanders edged ahead 3-1 in the bottom of the third. A sac ground out by
Lydia Peterson plated
Carlee Miller and
Adelynn Killian drove in
Kareena Ulfig with a double to right.
That two-run lead didn't last past the next inning as the Wolves responded with three runs in the fourth. The visitors added to their lead with back to back solo homers in the top of the sixth to close out the scoring.
The Highlanders finished with five hits in the contest, led by two from Killian.
Kareena Ulfig went 5.1 innings, allowing six runs on 10 hits, while
Olivia Carr pitched 1.2 innings, allowing no runs and striking out five.
The second game saw the Wolves get a run in the fourth and three in the fifth before the Highlanders were able to pull one back in the sixth, thanks to a solo homer by
Danielle Nelson. However, that's the only run the Highlanders would produce, and Keuka closed the scoring with two more runs in the top of the seventh.
Houghton managed just four hits on the game led by two from
Jennifer Page. Carr got the start in the circle and pitched six innings, allowing four runs on six hits and striking out six.
Alisabeth Crandall pitched an inning of relief, with two runs allowed on four hits.
The Highlanders are back in action for a home doubleheader Monday vs. Hilbert at 3:30 and 5:30.
