The team produced eight hits in the contest. Thompson was 2 for 3 with a run scored and an RBI to lead the Houghton batters.
"Delhi is a great hitting team," said Houghton Head Coach
Chad Muise. "Our pitchers and defense did a great job to keep their bats to a reasonable level. We missed some timely hitting, and didn't string as much together as we would have hoped, but we definitely showed a lot of competitive efforts across the day. We are excited to play a lot in the next couple of weeks, allowing us to fine tune some of the execution we missed on today."
Houghton won't have much of a break, as they return to action for a doubleheader at Chatham on Saturday starting at 1 p.m.
