Harold Spooner was known as one of the first true starts of Houghton basketball. He lit up the scoreboard a number of times for Houghton, and completed his collegiate career with an impressive 1,300 points. Today, that mark is still in the top ten high scores in the record books. Many in Houghton remember Spooner as a true athlete – one who came to play every night.
Harold has served as the Director of Diversity, Associate Dean and Associate Director of Admissions at the Stony Brook School on Long Island. He is a former staff member of Young Life. He also has coached both basketball and football and is committed to the value that athletics can play in education.
Harold’s involvement in athletics and his continued dedication to a variety of ministries qualifies him for the honor of being named to the Hall of Honor. Harold Spooner played basketball for Houghton from 1970-74.
