Dr. Marvin Eyler is a 1942 Houghton graduate who had a stellar athletic career in track and field while at Houghton. Following Houghton, the history major spent six years in the United States Air Force, rising to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

 

He joined the faculty at the University of Maryland where, during his 26 year tenure, he became the Dean of the College of Physical Education. He wrote widely and was an internationally-known authority on sports and physical education – thus, became editor of the National College of Physical Education journal.
